The Light of Resilience – Lande Hekt and Claire Ingleheart
Will the sun, ever shine, on our town again
Since the darkness of closures took over
Will there be hope, for all, who seek to make change
When the funding is cut, what will remain?
Survivors have been silenced but no more, no, no more
The light of resilience is brighter than before
You can find support from the bay to the moors
If we stand up! Show what our voices are for.
After nearly 40 years, the refuge closed in spring
Soon there was protest, outside on the streets
The press were not there, oh no, they weren’t listening
And soon many felt the weight of defeat.
To leave everything behind, and start out again
I wonder how far have we really come?
When there are those, in pain, with nowhere to turn
We know together, there is work still to be done.
