Occupy The Airwaves 2026

Here we celebrated and honoured our Co-Founder and Co-Director Josie Sutcliffe with a day of programming on Phonic FM.

We broadcast from midnight until 8am with shows from our OTA archives and then went LIVE from 8am until Midnight. It was an emotional day as it was our first year without our Co-Founder and Co-Director Josie Sutcliffe with us on air. Occupy has been Josie’s idea and she absolutely loved being on air on International Women’s Day, and seeing other women enjoy takes to the airwaves for the very first time.

You can listen to the shows here:

Many joined us in the Workshop Space at Exeter Phoenix between 2pm and 4pm for tea & cake and a very special short concert at 3.30pm with our newly formed choir led by Sarah Owen. It was a beautiful moment in the day.

Thank you to everyone who came along and paid their respect and ensured that the day was full of stories about Josie and laughter alongside some tears. Josie’s friends travelled from far and wide to be with us, which made the day even more special.

This year was dedicated to Josie after her sad passing last year. We miss her so much, and hoped we kept her spirit alive throughout the day, where we wanted to honour her work, and impact in the world.
